ABBREVIATED SCHEDULE
In the event of inclement weather, the Los Lunas Schools will operate on an abbreviated schedule. The pick-up time will be two hours later than usual; dismissal time will remain the same for all schools. The elementary schools will begin at 10:45 a.m. with dismissal at 3:00 p.m. There will be no morning recess and all lunches will be as regularly scheduled. Breakfast is not served.
TV stations that will relay the abbreviated day information are KOB, KRQE and KOAT.
Radio stations that will provide this information include KARS 860/AM
(Belen), KOB 770/AM and 93.3/FM. In the event of a school closure
during the day, due to extreme weather conditions or a hazardous
situation, local radio and TV stations will inform the public of the
emergency procedures. Parents should develop a plan with their child
for bad weather/abbreviated days and/or any other emergency situations
that may occur. In situations in which no adult is at home, identify a
neighbor or a relative for your child to contact. It is important to
communicate with the school/teacher regarding the plan for your child.
Your child needs a safe secondary location to go to in these types of
situations. A SAFETY FIRST form is included on the back of this
handbook to record your family’s plan. Review your plan with family
members and keep it handy!
